Delete your AOS account
You can request deletion of your Africa Online Space account and the personal data associated with it. AOS uses a 30-day restoration window so an accidental deletion can be reversed before permanent deletion takes place.
1. Delete your account on the web
If you are signed in to AOS web, you can start the deletion process directly:
- Open Account.
- Open the Delete Account screen.
- Read the deletion notice and optionally tell us why you are leaving.
- Type DELETE to confirm, then select Delete my account.
If you are not signed in, AOS will ask you to sign in before opening the deletion screen.
2. Delete your account in the mobile app
In the AOS mobile app, open your account or profile settings and choose Delete Account. Follow the confirmation steps shown in the app. The same 30-day restoration period applies.
3. Request help by email
If you cannot access your account or cannot use the in-app/web deletion flow, contact kalutudaniel@gmail.com from the email address associated with your AOS account where possible. Include enough information for us to identify and verify the account without sending passwords or other secrets.
For account security, we may need to verify that you control the account before acting on an email deletion request.
4. The 30-day restoration period
During the 30 days after deletion is requested, the account remains deactivated and hidden. If you change your mind, use the AOS restore-account process and complete the required email verification. Restoring the account during this period cancels permanent deletion.
5. What data is deleted
Permanent account deletion is intended to remove or anonymize personal account data and content tied to the deleted account from active AOS systems, subject to the technical and legal exceptions described below. This may include profile information, seller information, listings, user-generated content, preferences, saved activity, and other account-linked information.
Some content may have been shared with other users before deletion, and some records may need to be retained or de-identified for legitimate purposes such as fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, financial or audit obligations, and enforcement of AOS rules. Backup copies may also persist for a limited period until they are overwritten through normal backup cycles.
6. Before you delete
Account deletion is different from deleting individual listings, Shorts, messages, reviews, or other content. If you only want to remove specific content or stop receiving certain notifications, you may be able to do that without deleting your entire account.
